my approach

Words have meaning and the things we say to each other and ourselves have the power to influence the narratives we hold and the stories we tell. My philosophy is therapy is a collaborative process where each person, the therapist, and various systems (such as family and ecological) collectively contribute to the healing process in essential ways. My training and experience are just components of the process of therapy which are no substitute for each person's lived experiences (you are the expert in your own life!). You are the director in your journey toward growth, healing, and change. I approach therapy through a neurodivergent-affirming and systemic bio-psycho-social-spiritual lens and a position of anti-racism, decolonization, liberation, and social and environmental justice. My role as a therapist can vary at times but my primary roles are to be a co-author and editor in this process. I adapt treatment plan to best meet the needs of each client and utilize an integrative approach to therapy. I incorporate the following models of therapy: ecotherapy, collaborative, narrative, existential, feminist, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. If you are curious about what these models are, please explore the brief summaries. I also align with common factors theory which places emphasis on the fit of the  client-therapist relationship being an important part of the therapy process. I encourage you to reach out for a consultation to see if I am the right therapist to help you on your journey toward healing.

I wish to acknowledge the sovereignty of the indigenous custodians of the land on which my psychotherapy practice New Moon Ecotherapy PLLC and my home are currently residing and their Elders past and present, which, as I am situated in what colonizers call “Washington,” includes the Duwamish, Coast Salish, Suquamish, sdukʷalbixʷ (Snoqualmie), Stillaguamish, Snohomish, S’Klallam, Quileute, Queets, Quinault, Qʷidiččaʔa•tx̌ (Makah), Squaxin, Nisqually, Nuxwsa’7aq (Nooksack), Semiahmoo, and the ChalAt’i’lo t’sikAti (Chalat’). I invite you to learn more and make a donation to support the return of their land and culture. I invite residents of Seattle to consider paying rent to the Duwamish Nation as an act of solidarity and step toward justice: https://www.realrentduwamish.org/
